I love colorful lights at night, especially when there is water to reflect those lights. I wanted to paint a piece of Memphis since it is where I live currently. So much of cities during the daylight can look bland but at night any and all blandness is hidden in the dark and the lights illuminate and shine like beacons. I wanted to bring together the beautiful glories of sunrises and nighttime illuminations with this piece. Staring at this picture makes me think about the capabilities that God has given us to build truly beautiful things. From a distance this spectacular view gives me hope of what can be if we work together and give God the glory.
